On the design wall...

I am currently working on a kit from Addicted to Fabric (http://www.a2f.com.au/) named Carnival.  It is a hexagon block created using a 60 degree ruler.   I have about 1/2 of the triangle blocks ready.  I am not sure what the final layout will be, I will have to wait until I have all the blocks ready.  So far I really like how it is coming together and I am enjoying the process.

Rainbow Snake Creates

This is a work in progress and my entry into the Braidwood Quilt Shop challenge "Rainbow Snake". I chose to go with the aboriginal story of the rainbow snake,  who creates the land.   As this is the Year of the Snake in the Chinese zodiac I could have also pulled on that for inspiration.

New flower pincushion

I decided to make Myself a new pincushion.  It is a biscornu made of wool felt with an appliquéd flower and a button center.  I am very happy with how it turned out, especially as I did not use a pattern.

Quilty Fun Blog Tour & Sew Along

I have just received my copy of  Quilty Fun from the Fat Quarter Shop and I love it!  Super cute designs!  The book is by Lori Holt and I have been following her blog for a while.  Very inspiring!
Lori Holt's Bee in my Bonnet Blog!

So I have decided to follow the Quilty Fun Blog Tour & Sew Along! Should be fun and in the end I will have a very cute quilt!

Table Runner Quilting

Finally quilted this runner. This UFO has been around for a while!
I quilted it in a simple all over design. I decided on this all over pattern, because I want to use the same design one of my garden quilts I am working on. This a good place to practice.
I am happy with the results. Now what colour binding?

Sketchy Red Birds

Sketchy Red Birds by Julie902
Sketchy Red Birds, a photo by Julie902 on Flickr.

This is a miniature quilt inspired by a design in Little Birds: 26 Handmade Projects to Sew, Stitch, Quilt and Love.
I did this to practise free motion sketchy quilting.  I am pretty happy with the way it turned out.  I will give my little birds eyes and bind it in red.

Kumihimo Disk

Trying out my new Kumihimo Disk to make an eight cord braid.  Love it. It is so easy. I think I might use this braid as the vine on a garden quilt I have in progress.
